The second half of the day, I headed towards Champ de Mars with rosé & snacks to meet up with my friend Isobel and her workmate Kathleen. We were supposed to join a large group of people for a picnic but couldn’t find them so we ended up just finding a spot to sit in the very crowded Champ de Mars right in front of the Eiffel Tower at about 6 pm. The fireworks started at 11 pm so there was a long way to go but we just soaked in the atmosphere, ate and drank wine. We even made friends with some fellow Aussies who happened to be sitting next to us and played drinking games.
Then when it got darker, you could see the Eiffel Tower light up and looking spectacular as usual. The fireworks started at 11 pm and it was the most amazing show I have ever seen (I tried my best to take good photos) It was an unforgettable experience! Vive la France!
