Today, it’s my first Christmas in Paris and in the European winter. This whole month has been full of festivities despite all of last month’s tragic events. The city of light is even brighter than usual.
To get in the Christmas spirit, I visited the Christmas market at Champs-Élysées earlier in the month to have some vin chaud, crepes, fairy floss and check out the illuminations on the street. I also recently checked out the Christmas markets at La Defense.
Out of the two, I preferred the one at La Defense because it felt cosy and wasn’t as spread out as the one at Champs-Élysées but when I went to the La Defense one on a weekend, there was basically no space to walk as it was very popular. There were also some farm animals for the kids to see at La Defense.
You can spend hours walking around the markets. There are all sorts of stalls for food, drinks, crafts, jewellery, bags, clothing, porcelain, cheese etc. I’ve never seen markets like these before and it was a wonderful experience for me. Paris has been great to me so far and I will miss Christmas in Winter. I will have to come back again one day!
